Tera Term for Windows (7/10/11) is a reliable software solution to connect remotely to Telnet or SSH hosts. An open-source and free utility implementing software and emulating multiple computer terminals. Using several plugins, the utility lets you test the network and determine the strength of a firewall, as well as perform multiple tasks automatically. The software was developed by Takashi Teranishi in Japan in 1994 and won the “Online Software Grand Prize 97” prize in a competition arranged by the Japanese tool portal Madonmori in 1997. 

Tera Term User Interface

The simple and easy-to-use interface allows you to select any task, such as host, port, and pass single as well as multiple commands for connecting Telnet or SSH host. The program with a Telnet-based interface helps you to communicate between web-based application servers and any remote Telnet/SSH host. 

Multiple Modes

The built-in web server provides multiple modes for authentication and encryption, such as activating HTTP listening mode, choosing an IP address and port, and choosing any connection through HTTP or SSL. The program emulates multiple terminals while including all types of versions between DEC VT1000 and DEC VT382. In case of any problem, a help index is also available.

Compatible with Windows

With various compatibility with all types of devices, the software has special compatibility with Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, and Windows 11 are mainly operating systems to run the app very smoothly and reliably.

The Tera Term with freeware software license is available for Windows 32-bit as well as the 64-bit operating system of a laptop and PC without limits, and is presented for all software users as a free download. It belongs to SSh/Telnet clients.

Download the source code in ZIP or TAR archives and check it using different source code software packages. Additionally, you can perform multiple functions such as adding a certificate name and password file, letting incoming requests, status reports creation can be enabled, and connecting or disconnecting via selecting remote connection. Export the error log and result in HTML.
